Locating a Delta Dental dentist

Free choice of dentists (Texas)

We recognize that many factors affect your choice of dentist and therefore we support your freedom to choose any licensed dentist, which assures that you will have access to the dental treatment you need.

In addition, you and your family members can visit different dentists.

Your dentist may refer you to another dentist for a consultation or specialized treatment, or you may elect to see a specialist on your own. If this is done, be sure that the dentist you are referred to is a Delta dentist. You can do this by simply asking the specialist when making an appointment. Visiting a dentist who has agreed to participate in the Delta program can save you money, time and paperwork. Remember, if the dentist is a Non-Delta Dental dentist, you may be required to pay all of the treatment cost at the time of service and submit a claim to Delta Dental for reimbursement.

Remember, you enjoy the greatest benefits—including out-of-pocket savings—when you choose an Access Plan dentist. However, you are also free to visit a Delta Dental Premier dentist or a Non-Delta Dental dentist.

Non-Contracting dentists

If you go to a Non-Delta Dental dentist, Delta Dental pays the same percentage for covered services based on the dentist's fee up to the Maximum Plan Allowance. But since we cannot guarantee the dentist's fees, your share of the cost may be significantly higher than the percentage shown in the Benefits Summary Chart.

When dental services are received from a Non-Delta Dental dentist, reimbursement for the services will be paid directly to you. Non-Delta Dental dentists will bill you for their normal charges, which may be higher than the allowed amount for the service. You will need to pay the dentist yourself and then submit a claim to Delta Dental for reimbursement, less any deductible and/or coinsurance (click here to download the claim form). Since the Maximum Plan Allowance for services you receive from a Non-Delta Dental dentist may be less than the Non-Delta Dental dentist's charges, your out-of-pocket cost may be significantly higher.

Find a dentist

There are two ways in which you can locate a program dentist near you:

  • Access the online dentist directory. Remember, if you wish to receive maximum benefits, be sure to select the Access Plan.

  • You may also call our Customer Support Center toll-free at (866) 583-2085from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and one of our customer service representatives will assist you. He/she can provide you with information regarding a dentist's membership status, specialty and office location.
