Delta Dental is the largest and most established dental carrier in the nation, providing coverage to one in four Americans with dental insurance. Since the mid-1980s, the Delta system has enrolled nearly twice as many people as our two closest competitors. Most subscribers prefer Delta participating dentists because co-insurance percentages are guaranteed. As many as 80% or more of Delta Dental subscribers in most purchaser programs purposely select their dentists from lists of participating dentists because co-payment percentages are guaranteed.

We emphasize preventive care

Delta Dental's only business is dental coverage -- unlike most other insurance companies that sell dental benefits as an adjunct to medical. We believe that through diagnostic and preventive care, most patients will avoid unnecessarily involved and costly intervention. So, our focus is on getting patients into your office on a regular basis - for everyone's benefit.

Dentists help run Delta Dental

Dentists have substantial input into Delta Dental's operations through representation on Delta's Boards of Directors. In this way, dentistry's concerns are represented.

We offer direct payments

By electing to participate in Delta's network, dentists can improve their cash flow and reduce their accounts receivable with direct payments from Delta Dental. Delta Dental benefit payments are among the fastest and surest payments to dental offices.

Professional reviews

All subjective claim decisions are made by licensed, practicing dentists -- not lay people -- who serve as consultants to Delta Dental. What's more, claim supervisors and inquiry representatives answering dental questions must have dental-assistant training or chairside dental-assistant work experience.

National network of dentists

The stability of Delta Dental's network of participating dentists is one of its strengths -- and it continues to grow. With more than 142,000 dentists, the Delta Dental network is the largest in the country, representing more than 2 out of 3 practicing dentists nationwide.

Safeguards against misunderstandings

Delta Dental's pre-determination service includes a dentist-consultant's review of claims so dentists and enrollees know in advance what is covered and what the patient's co-payment will be.

Patient care recognition

Delta Dental does not assume that one common treatment scenario will meet the needs of all patients. Delta recognizes that dentists sometimes must provide unique treatment plans for patients with unusual needs. Delta does not take a regimented, cookbook-type approach to patient care.
