Guide to Delta Dental programs

Delta Dental's original and most widely purchased program is a fee-for-service program. Payment is based on the dentist's accepted filed fees and is sent directly to the dentist.

Delta Dental PPO

Delta Dental's PPO program provides enrollees enhanced benefits when visiting a PPO network general dentist, pediatric dentist, prosthodontist or orthodontist. Delta oral surgeons, periodontists and endodontists are not under PPO contract, but treatment provided by these Delta specialists is payable at the program's full in-network level. Most PPO dentists receive payment based on the PPO schedule of allowances. Non-PPO dentists usually receive a percentage of their accepted fees.

DeltaCare USA

DeltaCare USA is a prepaid plan. Patients receive benefits only when they visit a network dental office where they are enrolled (or when referred by their primary care dentist to a network specialist). Network dental offices are generally paid through monthly capitation payments and patient copayments. DeltaCare USA is Delta's national prepaid dental plan. The DeltaCare USA point of service program combines DeltaCare USA (prepaid) and Delta Dental Premier (fee-for-service) benefits. Patients enroll with a DeltaCare USA dentist but can visit a non-network dentist and receive fee-for-service benefits at a reduced level.
